UK (North Canara District) Karnataka: Yana, Sirsi, Yellapur

Jenukallu Gudda: (Honeystone Mountain)

Hi guys! here I am with my next post. I am now taking you to the scenic forests of UK Districts( Uttara Kannada). This place is easily approachable from Goa & Gokarna. It falls approximately 90-100 miles from Gokarna. There are two places while on the way, one is Honeystone mountain and the other is Magod falls. Please note that these are dense forests and visiting to these places at night make it extremely dangerous due to the presence of wild animals like Tigers, Lions, Wild Boars, Wild Elephants hence making a day trip is advisable. You need to head towards Yellapur from Gokarna i.e. while going to Goa from Gokarna, you need to take a left on the highway after a town called Ankola. For reaching these two places you need to take a right before you enter Yellapur town and need  to head 17 kms from that right turn into deep forests.

Jenu means Honey, Kallu means stone and Gudda means hill. This place is a sunset & sunrise point in the Western Ghat, which offers a panoramic view of the hills packed one behind the other. Jenukallu Gudda is situated 17 km from Yellapur. The Bedti River from Magod falls runs across the green hills and descends all the way to join the Arabian Sea beyond the hills. The view of the valley is especially scenic during sunset.

Magod Falls:

Magod falls is located 10 km prior to Jenukallu Gudda on the right side. The river you see flowing in all these places is a network which comes from the next water fall that I am going to show you. All these places fall on the same river belt in a single path flowing fiercely through thick forests.

Hope you guys enjoyed the scenic beauty of these remote forests. I am taking you to Sirsi in my next post which is 60 km from Yellapur. Until then stay tuned at this place.
